Born and raised in Liberia, I relocated to the United States exactly 10 years ago. To some, it might sound off the wall: a pillow for the potty? But to me, it was a no-brainer.
Growing up during the 14-year war that ravaged my home country, escaping to the bathroom was my only way of enjoying an alone time away from the many cousins that lived with us. Fast forward to many years later when my kids were younger, I found myself yet again in the exact same situation; but this time, all I wanted was a break away from my kids for a little mommy-me-time.
But as we all know, the bathroom is the most uncomfortable space in our home. The lid of the toilet, which is the only place to sit on, is not only hard and cold, but also uncomfortable.
